Hello Folks! Welcome to Our Blog.

Tidal and Qobuz are two Hi-Res streaming music services. But do you know what are the differences between them? Do you know which one will suit your needs? If you have no idea to choose which one for you, then please don't worry and read on this post to find the better music service.

Is Amazon’s High-Res Music Streaming Worth the Extra Money?

In this post, we will compare Qobuz vs Tidal in several aspects, including music library, price, audio quality, compatibility and user experience. Please check out this post and select the right one for you. Tidal was founded in by Norwegian public company Aspiro and currently owned by Jay-Z. It is a subscription-based music, podcast and video streaming service that combines lossless audio and Hi-Fi music videos with exclusive content and special features on music.

Until now, Tidal has operated in more than 54 countries and has over 3 million subscribers. Qobuz is a French commercial music streaming and downloading service, which was launched in and has expanded to a limited range of overseas markets, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Spain.

When it comes to compare two music streaming services, the most important aspects for users' reference is the music library. For Tidal, it claims that it offers more than 60 million tracks andmusic videos in its library. Users can find music on the Tidal sections like albums, explore, etc. And you can search on Qobuz for the tracks you want to listen to. Now let's take a look of the output audio format and sound quality between Tidal and Qobuz.

Sound quality is one of the factors that listeners should consider when choosing between Qobuz vs Tidal. Tidal uses MQA format to encode its Masters series release which are generally bit and either To play Masters series, you are required to install Tidal desktop app on your computer.

You also need to use the desktop app on a PC or an audio hardware to access to it. While Tidal provides 8 price plans for its users, including Premium, HiFi, etc. But the sound quality of each plan is different. HiFi provides a lossless High-Fidelity audio quality.Audiophiles have long prophesied a day when all music would stream in high resolution and the MP3 would be retired to a comfortable recliner from which it could swap war stories with 8-track tapes and laserdiscs.

Perhaps they should have. Since May, the field of companies offering high-res audio in the US has expanded from one to three major players: TidalQobuzand now Amazon. Answering that question demands a brief dive into the basics of sound-recording technology. In digital audio, resolution refers to the precision with which a digital representation of an audio signal matches the original signal.

Resolution is expressed in two numbers: word depth in bits which tells you the difference between the loudest and softest sounds that can be recorded and sampling rate in kilohertz which lets you calculate the highest frequencies of sound that can be recorded.

In both cases, more is generally considered better.

CD resolution is 16 bits and About 15 years ago, distribution of music in high resolution—usually 20 to 24 bits and 96 or kilohertz—became possible thanks to digital downloads. Companies like HDtracks and Acoustic Sounds offer high-resolution downloads of many current and past albums.

The plan will only be offered through January 31, to the firstsubscribers. Is it worth the cost? The answer, of course, depends on whether you can hear the difference, and whether that difference is important to you. Through the headphones and speakers that typical music listeners are likely to use, the difference would be even harder to hear. A difference that is at best barely and sporadically detectable would be unlikely to make your music listening substantially more enjoyable or give you deeper insight into the music.

However, most audio experts would agree that uncompressed music at CD resolution sounds noticeably better than music compressed with technologies such as MP3 and AAC. Is that improvement worth the added expense? The recordings that make me cry when I hear them on CD or vinyl still make me cry when I hear them on Spotify.

And then there are the bandwidth issues. CD-quality and high-resolution streams require much higher data rates than the compressed music on Spotify, Apple Music, or the standard tiers of Tidal, Qobuz, and Amazon Music Unlimited.

For me at least, cost is the distinguishing factor among the three services. Neither of the other services seems to offer any significant advantage over Amazon Music HD to justify the higher price. All of those services have most of the albums I want to hear, and all suffer from a few omissions.

If high-res matters to you, Tidal has the weakest offerings as of this writing, with apparently only a few hundred albums in high-res MQA. Qobuz claims more than 2 million albums in high-res, although many of those are presented in 24 bits but with a CD-quality I expect that most audiophiles, musicians, and others who have a strong personal or professional interest in music reproduction will make a calculation similar to mine and invest a little extra in getting the best sound.

Average music fans, though, will be happy listening through Spotify or Apple Music—and waiting for the day when, like high-definition video, high-resolution audio becomes a standard offering available at no extra cost.Qobuz: Daft Punk — Get Lucky 24 bit This was roughly the same part of the song and about a 15 second sample. So essentially Tidal has less information in the song?

I just downloaded and started the 30 day free trial to go back and forth between Qobuz and Amazon…I would love to see if they measure differently.

Amazon HD - Web Player. Highest frequency at about 23 kHz with theoretical max at 24 kHz. These graphs show a lack of high frequencies in some samples and while that may be an indication of quality it is not the whole story.

Appreciate the testing. It confirms one of the reasons why I dropped Tidal and went with Qobuz. But more testing would be valuable…. What software are you using to measure with? This is really cool thanks for sharing your findings. I wonder if everything was the same for each service what the measurements would show? Since Qobuz and Amazon both have Flac up to kz 24bit to me this comparison is the most interesting as they are closest in price and in my opinion have the best chance of being the big two left in the space once the dust settles and Tidal becomes ashes.

Everything was captured at the best level the service had to offer for a popular well recorded Hi Res track. MQA is a lossless way of packing high frequency information into a lower frequency encoding. While it will never lossless sound as good as a real Hi Res file, it still sounds really good to my ears. I do like that we are starting to have some competition in this space.

Honestly my Tidal subscription was gifted by a friend. A whole year! Thank you sir! Great stuff, I would love to see head to head between amazon and Qobuz same track same recording quality if you get the chance!

Battle of Hi-Res Music: Qobuz vs Tidal

And, Qobuz appears to have expanded its US catalog quite extensively since the first reviews on this forum pointed out their shortcomings. Thank you hnordberg for taking time to do this and post the results here! As it is nice to see information like this. I will say this I am still in my free trial of Qobuz and I am definitely keeping it as for myself it simply sounds better then Tidal. By playing from Tidal what do you mean exactly?Based in the US, Tidal has rendered Hi-Res streaming music service to more than 50 countries throughout the world.

As the absolute leader in the high-quality digital audio market, Tidal has a new and powerful competitor today, music streaming service Qobuz has announced to launch in the US this year. Qobuz is an audiophile-oriented streaming music platform based in France. It has been available to over 10 European countries for the past 10 years. Specialized in the quality of audio rather than the numbers of songs, this French company provides Hi-Res streams without playing on proprietary equipment.

If you're a fan of High-Fidelity tracks, you now have those 2 options above. But which one is better? Don't worry, in this article, we will compare these two streaming music providers line by line. Read on to find which one suits you more. It is worth mentioning that the MQA format has caused lots of controversy between audiophile groups on the internet for the reason for the goal it states: providing a listening experience of end-to-end losslessly.

To achieve this target, MQA uses a special technique called "temporal deblurring", which may have an influence on the audio's details by minimizing ringing artifacts in the song being played.

You need to download Qobuz's desktop app on PC or purchase compatible hardware to access the improved quality. Tidal accepts MQA to encode its Master's files, which are normally bit and either Again, a Tidal's desktop app needs to be installed on the PC to play Masters series.

Both Qobuz and Tidal own mobile and web version, which can be suitable for many players and hardware devices but Tidal obvious build cooperative relationship with more partners. A large number of Hi-Fi companies have Tidal onboard, whilst a small part of them make streamers to Qobuz such as Sony, Yamaha, Linn, Electrocompaniet, and so forth. In addition, Qobuz finds a new way to figure out this problem. It allows users to use Google Chromecast to stream music from Qubuz.

If you'd like to play Tidal music on some hardware devices without the Tidal app, there is a useful method to solve this problem. And then you can freely import converted Tidal music files to any device for listening. Qobuz claims that it has about 40 million CD-quality tracks and a couple of million Hi-Res songs in its library though sometimes the library looks barren when looking for popular artists and tracks.

Tidal announces that over 60 million tracks and plentiful exclusive interviews and videos can be found in its library. There is also "classical" which is seldom released on the new list.

Obviously, both of Qobuz and Tidal are putting more effort into music quality instead of quantity. So it seems a good idea to use them as complementary for each other. To explain in advance: Premium offers standard sound quality, HiFi provides a lossless High-Fidelity sound quality. Students' plan and the Military's plan are not available in all geographies. A good statistic to see is the drawdown. There are more regular and stable tipsters than others. The problem of bad streaks is that it is difficult to separate them between chance and poor selection, and usually bring mistrust in the figure of the tipster.

The player usually leaves after the loss, and when he leaves the tipster recovers it without the player's bank having a chance to raise again. Another topic to take into account is the number of picks per month that has a tipster, there is no clear theory, but maybe the ideal is a tipster that moves between 40-80 tips in large markets and between 50 and 200 in small markets.

Few picks make it harder to amortize the subscription and there is more volatility of results month to month, caused by chance. Too many picks raises the suspicion of whether a bookie can have so many misfits within a month.

Lastly, we have to quote the qualitative analysis of the picks that sends the tipster. There are players who go beyond quantitative criteria such as those previously discussed. They like to look at the argument of the picks that sends a tipster and according to that gives more or less credibility. It is a practice that we do not recommend, because you have to have a great knowledge of betting and about the sport to be able to doubt of an argument of this kind.

In addition, it will always be that, opinion. The numbers are cold and roughly support the arguments of each of the picks in a sample. In short, we could say that you must select those tipsters that suit your circumstances.

The yield is of course one of the most important statistics to look at from a tipster, but perhaps it is overrated, since that yield is calculated taking into account the original odds. However, there are different factors why users sometimes bet something below that odds. This is the reason why the actual yield of the customer is sometimes below the official. In addition, other factors must be taken into account, such as if is easy to do his bets, liquidity, variance in the results (can be measured with drawdown), type of market in which he is betting, limitations, etc.

You can guide yourself with it if you want to compare two tipsters that you like.
